How Often Do I Wax My Surfboard?

MyHeritage.com TinySOA + RFID: Sample Video

TinySOA + RFID is a system created as course project for Computer Mobile and Ubiquitous in CICESE. Basically, it integrates RFID technology in the implementation that had to TinySOA . Thus, the system now provides a specialized API (based on Web services) to read and write information to RFID tags.

Once developed the system, it became necessary to demonstrate its utility by creating an application. As the idea was to support ubiquitous computing, it was decided to make an application to augmented reality (for this I used ARToolKit, which incidentally is highly recommend). This video was taken from the output to the lens of augmented reality (the shots that have the goal box).

The idea of \u200b\u200bthe application is as follows: in a distribution line will be going through boxes of product. These boxes are closed and the product is highly dependent on weather conditions in the room where you drive. The operator will be watching through augmented reality, virtual representation of the boxes shows a cylinder which indicates the current room temperature (this is obtained by a sensor network), a representation of the content of what is in and maximum and minimum temperatures that supports the product (this information is stored in an RFID tag carrying the box). When the temperature exceeds or is below the allowable range, the virtual box begin to glow red to indicate to the operator the problem.

TinySOA is an open-source project and soon hopefully we can publish on its Web site: www.tinysoa.net (and let you know when you're ready).

Updated: A magazine article with all the information about TinySOA was accepted and is at the moment, available online at the following address: http://dx .doi.org/10.1007/s11761-009-0043-x

The Last Tenor: Luciano Pavarotti

Foto por: Dante Peralta

Last night Luciano Pavarotti died that was considered "the greatest tenor of all time." Although I already had the idea that was not going to see live, I still had some hope. The closest I was when he came to the Laguna Salada in Mexicali beyond October 2003 and could not go. Now I'll have to settle for view by other means (eg YouTube). So in memoriam included two of his videos.

The first is Nessun Dorma, an aria from the opera Turandot of Puccini . Many consider it the "seal" Pavarotti although there are some purists who say it is best to sing.

The second video is of Aryan A Furtive Lagrima opera L'Elisir d'Amore Donizetti of . Some moviegoers remember hearing him in Match Point (although there is another who sings.)

Finally, as a curiosity, this morning I saw an interview in which Pavarotti night commented that "romantic" of his career was at a concert in Chichen Itza . This by the atmosphere created by the pyramid and the full moon (another concert that I was not).
